Listen…this is important, if you were one of the nearly 40 million Ashley Madison account holders whose information just got dumped on the web for all to see, including the person you were trying to cheat on, I have something very important to share with you…Ready?…Here it is: HA HA HA HA HA (That’s me laughing at YOU) oh wait, I have a little more left in me: Bahahahaha!
Well perhaps you can chalk this one up to Karma, this act of online vigilantism carried out by the “Impact Team” is bound to expose a whole host of interesting characters, and one notable name that made the news right away was Josh Duggar from the TLC show “19 Kids and Counting” seems like Josh just can’t catch a break, the media interest in him was just beginning to die down after news broke that he molested his sisters when he was younger and now this, but I will get back to Josh later.
I have no sympathy whatsoever for those who get exposed due to this hack, some will argue two wrongs don’t make a right and that people’s private information is being exposed and regardless of their Adulterous Behavior they have a right to their privacy. Sure, I can accept that argument, I know I wouldn’t want my personal information hacked into and distributed online. But there is just something different about this one, and I know there shouldn’t be, but I can’t help it, I think it is great that this website which its sole purpose is to help people Cheat on their significant other while hopefully avoiding detection. Hell, even the company motto is “Life’s short, have an affair” The site makes a profit from people’s Infidelity, Dishonesty and Sexual Taboos. So yeah, I’m glad they all got busted….Again, I’m laughing HA HA HA HA and HA!
I think our society always seems to treat Ethical Failures that involve Sex fairly harshly. When politicians or celebrities affairs are made public they are always subjected to harsh public scorn, even outrage at times. While other Ethical or Criminal behaviors don’t even bat an eye such as Fraud, Drunk Driving or Policy Failures. A recent case public case was that of s,Gen. David Petraeus while sharing classified secrets to his biographer whom he was also having an Affair with, people were more upset about the Affair than the sharing of secret information.
What I found interesting about this Ashley Madison hack is all the Government Emails that showed up on the list, there was an estimate between 10,000 and 15,000 email address belonging to Government Officials or Employees with “.gov” addresses. I can’t help but wonder how many government workers sit at their desk trolling on Ashley Madison, while the tax payer picks up the dime. I also wonder if those same workers will get Fired? Certainly it must be against some rule in some government HR manual.
It has been reported that some of the email addresses are linked to the White House and NASA, as well as the Vatican and the United Nations. Senior Professors at top Universities are also included in the list. This scandal is just going to get juicier as time goes on and as more names are made public.
So what information was actually released by the hackers? They gave out the email addresses and user names, first and last names and the last four digits of credit cards. As well as IP addresses, street addresses and phone numbers for a large portion of them. I guess for those people who used their real names it will be hard for them to deny any of this when they are confronted.
On an interesting side note…A cyber security firm CyberAngel has also noted that about 1,200 people on the leaked list had emails based in Saudi Arabia, where Adulterers face the Death Penalty. Guess those 1,200 people are sweating bullets right now.
Okay, back to Josh Duggar, so once it came to light that his name and information was released by the hackers he came out with a public statement…“I have been the biggest hypocrite ever. While espousing faith and family values, I have secretly over the last several years been viewing pornography on the internet and this became a secret addiction and I became unfaithful to my wife,” he also went on to say “I brought hurt and a reproach to my family, close friends and the fans of our show with my actions that happened when I was 14-15 years old, and now I have re-broken their trust,”
What annoys me most about this Josh Duggar scandal is the fake bullshit he pushed on TV about Family Values and living a Christian Lifestyle. With everything that has been going on this week with Jared Fogle (The Subway Spokesman) and now this scandal. Really shows there is a Moral Void in America, what happened to those good old fashion Family Values? Or did we ever really have any?
As the inevitable revelations to come can only get worse, as more names are made public from the list, it will be interesting to see how many more celebrities have used this site. So stay tuned I’m sure this scandal will be pretty interesting for the next few weeks.
